Rachel Anne over at Company Girls had an awesome post yesterday, Hey Baby! Find Your Beat! It SO spoke to me about getting my act together and getting back into my routine! She compares the rhythm of a marching band to the “rhythm” it takes to run a household. “There are things that require a repetitive beat, week after week to keep things from falling into chaos. The laundry, the meals, the dishes, the picking up, the sorting, the bills, the errands. You can get real tired of the constant drum beat of things to do, but there is beauty when things work like they should.” Well, I am so off beat right now. In fact, I would venture to say that I am not just off beat…I have dropped my drum. Well, her post was just the kick in the tail that I needed! Just yesterday I got the laundry and the kitchen under control, which was a major task…especially with little ones at my feet! But, it is so true. There are things that need to be done daily and if I miss a day, chaos is inevitable!
I have picked up my drum and I am ready to start marching in step again! For me, that means:
1) getting up ON TIME
2) having my Bible time
3) doing at least one load of laundry
4) unloading the dishwasher in the morning
5) cleaning the kitchen before going to bed
These are just a few of the many things that I MUST do each day in order keep the chaos at a minimum. But you have got to start up somewhere, right?!?!? {smile}
What about you? Are you marching to the beat? Are you a bit out of step? Have you dropped your drum? If you are like me, don’t beat yourself up. Just pick it up and start marching again!
